• Title / location: Phase 2, Bolsover Street, London, W1
  • Project value: £18.7m
  • Project type: Refurb, structural steel
  • Crofton contract value: £240k
  • Dates: 2011-2012

We were asked to supply and erect approx 90 tonne of structural steelwork to create a new framework around and above an existing grade 2 listed hall. An additional two floors were then built which formed the new penthouses.

The five main trusses were lifted into position carefully over the existing hall using a tower crane. Each fully welded truss weighed in at over 6 tonne.

Following the successful and CCS award winning delivery of Phase One, both Sisk and Crofton worked together again on Phase Two of this mixed use residential, healthcare and office scheme. The works involved the demolition of a section of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital followed by the construction of 60 apartments, 44 of which are private apartments and the remainder being affordable housing. The existing Grade II listed hall at the centre of the development was protected and refurbished to provide high quality office accommodation.
